10 Month Doctor's Visit!

Jack had his 10 month check up and it seems that he's doing fairly well. He's growing and his physical development is totally on track. The only issue I brought up to the doctor is his speech. You see, Jack doesn't love babbling. In fact, he's never uttered a consonant sound (ma, pa, da, ba, etc.) and typically that happens between 6 and 9 months. Of course, as first time parents, John and I are stressing about it. But, while the doctor said it was out of the norm for him not to be saying those things, she wasn't too worried. She was happy that his receptive communication skills seemed to be coming along. Meaning that he is starting to understand a lot of what I'm saying like "turn the page", "put your arm in", "let's go to the bath", etc. She said that even if he is speech delayed you can't do speech therapy until 18 months. But she sent me off saying, "if you makes you feel better, I didn't start talking until I was two years old. And then I talked in full sentences." So my theory is that Jack just loves sitting back and observing people and one day he'll open his mouth and say something sarcastic and witty and wonderfully genius. :)

And, lest I forget, here are his stats:

Weight: 18 pounds, 14 ounces (15th percentile)
Height: 28.75 inches (50th percentile)

  1. yep. he'll look at you with a big smile on his face and say, "dada!"

jack is .25 inches away from being as tall as violet is at 15 months! i won't even talk about the weight, speaking of stress. :)
