When the temperature hits 90...

My son loves to be outside about 75% of every day and we have the tans to prove it.  But lately it's been around 90 degrees and it's just so so hot.  So I had to find some way to for Jack to cool down.  He just adores water but, oddly enough, he doesn't love getting in the pool with me.  I think because he's not "free" and doesn't think it's fun to have me hold him the whole time.  But he does love running through the sprinklers and the tiny blow-up toddler pool I got him.  He jumps in and out of that thing and runs around naked for an hour.

He seems to like his naked time so I let him run around and have fun.  He goes in his little pool, runs through the trees, and goes down the slide over and over.  Yay for summer!

Sick...but staying afloat.

Sickness has struck the household again. Jack wasn't sick the first year of his life but now he's been sick twice in the past two months. And he's passed it along to his caring and loving mommy and daddy.  I know this isn't the worst thing in the world but he is just so damn miserable that it's hard to take care of him from 5:45am to 8pm by myself. And by "hard" I mean that I run out of patience after hours of alternating crying, whining, and throwing food. But we're hanging in there. It'll all be over soon.

On a positive note, here are some cute pics of Jack and his daddy enjoying some pool time this past weekend.

Polar Bear Swim

Jack's love of the pool hasn't diminished just because the temperatures have dropped. The water is probably 50 degrees but the little guy truly doesn't seem to notice or care. On Christmas day his two grandpas were watching him outside while we were working inside and, lo and behold, Jack outsmarted them. Or at least convinced them (with his cuteness) that it was okay to for him to continually dive into the pool and splash around with his hands and arms. They'd pull him out and then he'd scurry around their backs and dive in the pool farther down the line. What a damn cute kid.

Today Jack is...32 weeks old.

Another fun week with the little guy. My back hurts from bending over and helping him walk all week because that is certainly his favorite activity. He can practically pull himself up in the crib, though, he still needs a tiny bit of help from mom. He's so proud of himself though. He just lights up.

This week we went back to Travel Town to ride the miniature train (and kill some time in the afternoon). Plus we wanted to show Aunt Leslie how cool it was.

He really is having more fun that it appears in that picture. I think the problem was that it was just so darn hot. And because of the heat, we spent a lot of time in the pool. Although, sometimes not intentionally. Generally I like to dip his legs in the pool for a little while in the middle of the day. But lately he's taken to trying to jump in. He'll lean forward until his head is practically in the water and then make me let him stand on the top shelf. He'll also sit on the edge, turn at the waist and put his hands on the edge of the pool, and sort of slip in and turn around so he ends up standing facing me. It's quite ingenious. Of course, it means his clothes get all wet but I don't care. He likes it.

In other news, Jack is still napping on me. What's that you say? Try to put him down? Well, I do. But he either a) wakes up immediately or b) only sleeps for 25 minutes. And the little guy on only 25 minutes of sleep is not a happy kid. So I hold him and he'll sleep for 2 hours. Or at least he will if I periodically shush him or nurse him when he stirs. Anyways, it's silly, but, at the same time, I know he won't nap on me forever. And he's so cute. And now I get to see this face looking up at me every time he wakes up.

And now, more pics from the week!
